VPS vs. Mac mini

Choosing the right home for your AI Agent.

Deciding where to "host" your Moltbot agent is the first major technical hurdle. Because Moltbot functions as a digital extension of your team, it needs an environment that is always-on, secure, and fast.

There are two primary ways to set this up: a Virtual Private Server (VPS) or a Dedicated Mac mini. Both have pros and cons, and the "best" choice depends entirely on your specific use case.

Option 1: The Cloud VPS

A VPS is a computer running in a data center (like AWS, Google Cloud, or DigitalOcean). You "rent" it by the month.

The Verdict: Best for pure automation and low maintenance. If you want your Moltbot to be checking emails and running scripts 24/7 without you ever thinking about it, a VPS is the way to go.

Option 2: The Local Mac mini

This involves buying a physical Mac mini and letting Moltbot run as a "Node" directly on that machine in your office or home.

The Verdict: Best for performance and "desktop" automation. Because Moltbot can interact with local apps (like Apple Notes or browser sessions logged into your personal accounts), a Mac mini setup feels much more like a real assistant sitting at a desk next to you.
